Mets Fans Let Loose With NSFW Fury After Phillies Hand Them a Crushing Loss

This one got ugly fast. The New York Mets walked into Saturday already banged up — no Francisco Lindor, a roster full of question marks — and then the Philadelphia Phillies just poured it on. By the fifth inning, it was 11-1. Fans on social media responded the way you’d expect. Which is to say, not politely.

One fan called out Freddy Peralta directly after he gave up seven runs. “The Mets aren’t gonna get s— for him after trading two prospects. Embarrassing,” the post read on X. And that was one of the cleaner takes. Another fan just went with a straight “the Mets are a–” rant. Not subtle, but honest.

As if the score wasn’t bad enough, Bryce Harper decided to add a little salt. He hit a triple to complete the cycle, which is the kind of thing that makes a bad night feel even worse. The MLB account posted the video, and Mets fans had to sit through that too.

Mendoza and Cohen Catch the Heat

Manager Carlos Mendoza took plenty of criticism for how the team looked out there. But the loudest complaints were aimed at owner Steve Cohen. One fan account went on a rant about how Cohen told everyone back in 2021 that it would be a “major disappointment” if the Mets weren’t playing for a World Series within five years. Well, it’s been five years. The Mets have made the playoffs twice under Cohen. But this fan wasn’t impressed: “The laughing stock of baseball every single day and every single year.”

It’s not like the Mets didn’t score at all. Mark Vientos ended the scoreless streak in the top of the fourth with a solo homer off an 87 mph changeup. First pitch he saw, he sent it out. Nice swing. But here’s the thing: it made the score 11-1. The Phillies put on an offensive show, plain and simple.

The Mets have bigger problems than one bad game. Lindor’s injury is a real issue. The pitching staff looks shaky. And the fans — well, they’re not hiding how they feel. Some of it is NSFW. All of it is warranted.
