Memphis Tries to Poach Quinten Post From Warriors With $30 Million Offer Sheet

The Memphis Grizzlies just made a real push to steal a guy the Golden State Warriors probably want to keep. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, restricted free agent Quinten Post signed a three-year, $30 million offer sheet with Memphis on Monday.

That’s a solid payday for a 7-foot center who has spent most of his two NBA seasons shuffling between the Warriors’ bench and their G League affiliate in Santa Cruz. Post averaged 8.1 points and 3.6 rebounds in just over 16 minutes per game last season, and he shot a respectable 38% from three. The guy has skills for a big man, especially as a stretch five who can space the floor.

Can the Warriors Afford to Let Him Walk?

Golden State now has until 11:59 p.m. ET on Tuesday to match the offer. Early whispers around the league suggest they probably will. And honestly, it makes sense. The Warriors are already thin up front, and Post is exactly the kind of modern center who fits their system. He can shoot, he’s mobile enough to defend on the perimeter for stretches, and he costs way less than what most starting-caliber bigs go for these days.

But $10 million a year is a decent chunk for a guy who hasn’t cracked the regular rotation yet. If Memphis really wants him, they made Golden State think hard about it.

What This Means for Memphis

For the Grizzlies, this is a low-risk bet on upside. They’ve got cap space to play with, and adding a floor-spacing center who can back up Jaren Jackson Jr. or maybe even play next to him in certain lineups makes sense. Memphis has quietly been retooling around Ja Morant and Desmond Bane, and Post gives them another shooter who doesn’t need the ball to be effective.

If Golden State matches, Memphis moves on. If not, they just snagged a 24-year-old with a developing three-point stroke and actual size. Not bad for a Tuesday deadline play.

More details as this unfolds.
