Kylian Mbappe is apparently working overtime as a recruiter. The Real Madrid star is trying to convince fellow French international Michael Olise to leave Bayern Munich and join him at the Santiago Bernabeu, according to reports out of Spain.
El Chiringuito TV reported this week that Mbappe has been talking up a Real Madrid move to Olise, their World Cup teammate. The two have been some of France’s most dangerous attackers together, and apparently Mbappe wants to make that partnership permanent at the club level.
These rumors have been floating around for weeks now. Florentino Perez is reportedly a fan of Olise’s game and sees him as the next Galactico-type signing. Some reports have even suggested Real Madrid might be willing to drop more than €200 million to get it done. That’s a serious number for any player.
But here’s where it gets complicated.
Bayern Munich is not playing along. Club president Herbert Hainer made that painfully clear when he addressed the speculation directly.
“As I’ve said before, if Real Madrid president Florentino Perez had that in mind, he can save himself the trouble, because we don’t want to sell Michael,” Hainer told reporters.
That’s about as blunt as it gets. Bayern has publicly dismissed the idea of losing Olise, who has become one of their most important pieces since arriving from Crystal Palace. The club is not interested in negotiating, no matter how much money gets waved around.
Part of why this story has legs is the chemistry between Mbappe and Olise. Mbappe himself has talked about it openly.
“It’s so easy to play with Michael Olise. He makes it easier, playing with his heads up… he can always see my movements. I love playing with Michael,” Mbappe said recently.
That kind of praise from one of the best players in the world matters. And it seems like Mbappe is trying to turn that on-field connection into something real in the transfer market.
For now though, Bayern is holding firm. They know what they have in Olise. A creative winger who can unlock defenses and link up with forwards like few others. Letting him go, especially to a direct Champions League rival, would be a tough sell to their own fans.
Real Madrid has a history of getting its way eventually. But this one might take a while. Or it might not happen at all. Either way, Mbappe is clearly doing his part to make it happen.
