Manchester United are preparing for a major shake-up on the wing, and the domino effect could land them one of the Premier League’s most electrifying young attackers. According to multiple reports, the Red Devils have tabled a massive offer for West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville — but the deal hinges on two critical conditions.
The 24-year-old Dutch winger was one of the few bright spots in West Ham’s disastrous 2025/26 season, which ended in relegation to the Championship. Despite the team’s struggles, Summerville continued to produce, showcasing the flashy dribbling and cutting edge that made him a standout in the top flight. He even carried that form into the World Cup, scoring a stunning goal for the Netherlands in their group-stage opener.
Now, with the Hammers facing an uncertain future outside the Premier League, Summerville is expected to leave this summer. Tottenham have been linked, but it’s United who have emerged as the frontrunner according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, which claims the club has made an initial offer in the region of €60 million ($65 million). West Ham, however, are said to be holding out for a higher fee — around £50 million — given Summerville is under contract until June 2029.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein has reported that United’s interest is serious, but the move is not yet a done deal. Ornstein laid out two conditions that must be met for Summerville to end up at Old Trafford: United need to meet West Ham’s asking price, and Marcus Rashford must leave the club first.
Rashford’s situation is the wild card. Barcelona held a €30 million buy option on the English forward after his season-long loan in Spain, but that option expired on Monday without being triggered. That leaves Rashford back in Manchester with an uncertain future, and United may need to find a buyer — or another loan destination — to clear space and funds for Summerville.
The club has not confirmed the offer, and fans online have noted that United’s priority this summer remains a midfield overhaul. The Red Devils are closing in on Ederson Silva and have been linked with West Ham’s Matheus Fernandes as well. But with Champions League football back on the schedule, depth on the left wing has become a pressing need.
If Summerville arrives, he would slot into a United attack that has lacked consistent production from the flanks. His combination of pace, trickery, and finishing ability would give manager Erik ten Hag a dynamic option to pair with Rasmus Højlund and Bruno Fernandes. But for now, it’s a waiting game — and Rashford’s next move will likely decide whether Summerville is wearing red next season.
