Manchester City is getting serious about Elliot Anderson. The kind of serious that involves checking the calculator twice.

According to journalist Nicolo Schira, City is preparing a new offer worth somewhere between €135 million and €140 million. That’s roughly $145 million to $150 million in real money. And it’s for a midfielder who, two years ago, was mostly known inside Nottingham.

Personal terms are already locked in. Anderson has reportedly agreed to a contract that runs through 2031. The player wants out of Forest and wants into City’s system as fast as possible. That much is settled.

The Rejected Offer That Started This

This didn’t come out of nowhere. City has been working this deal for weeks. talkSPORT reported earlier that Forest already turned down a package worth £106 million plus another £15 million in add-ons. That’s a lot of money to say no to. But Forest knows what they’ve got.

Anderson had a monster season. He followed it up with a strong World Cup performance. Right now, he might be one of the most valuable English players on the market. That gives Forest leverage and they’re using it.

The Sun reported that Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is personally handling the negotiations. He wants a record fee. Not just a big fee. A record-level fee. City might have to break the bank in a way they haven’t done since they signed Jack Grealish.

What City Gets for All That Cash

Anderson isn’t just another body in the midfield. He brings energy. He wins the ball back. He’s physical. He carries the ball forward with purpose. Those are exactly the traits City needs as they try to refresh an aging squad that looked a step slow at times last season.

City looks confident they can get this done. The player is pushing for the move. The money is there. The only question is whether Forest finally blinks and takes an offer that would reshape the Premier League’s entire understanding of what a midfielder costs.

If this goes through, it won’t just be a club record for City. It’ll be a statement about where the transfer market is headed. And it’s happening soon.
