Josh Hart Didn’t Forget the Wine Promise. One Knicks Fan Is About to Find Out.

Knicks guard Josh Hart made good on a promise Wednesday, and it involved wine. Of course it did.

A fan named John Whitespot brought up a bet Hart made back on The Roommates Show, the podcast Hart co-hosts with Jalen Brunson. The bet was simple: if the Knicks won the title, Hart would send a bottle of wine to whoever reminded him about it. Whitespot reminded him. Hart answered the call on X.

“I’m a man of my word. DM me your addy and I got you!” Hart wrote.

That was it. Short, direct, very Josh Hart. No long explanation, no PR-friendly copy. Just a dude saying he’d send wine.

Wine has become a whole thing for Hart

This isn’t some random bit. Hart turned wine into a personality trait during the playoffs when he showed up to a press conference holding a glass of red. The moment went viral because it felt real. Most athletes stick to water or Gatorade at the podium. Hart brought a Bordeaux and acted like it was the most normal thing in the world.

It worked. Fans latched onto it. The Knicks, after 53 years without a title, became the kind of team where a guard sipping wine during a media obligation just fit. They beat the Spurs in the Finals and suddenly everything the Knicks did had a glow to it.

He didn’t have to respond

Hart could have let that tweet slide. The championship parade happened. The offseason is full of appearances and travel. No one would have checked. But Hart went out of his way to reply, and that matters because his connection with fans has never felt manufactured. He’s the same guy on the court, on the podcast, and on social media.

Whitespot posted the reminder and Hart picked it up within hours. That’s not a guy playing a role. That’s a guy who actually remembers the weird promises he makes.

The whole exchange also shows how much Brunson and Hart’s locker room culture has carried into the summer. The show is their thing, the wine bet became their thing, and now one fan gets to be part of it. The Knicks are on a victory lap that’s stretching longer than anyone expected, and honestly? They’re earning it.

Hart’s wine promise is small. But for one guy in New York, it’s proof that the championship season isn’t totally over yet. The bottle is coming.
