Jordan Love Got Booed at the World Cup in LA. He’s Still Smiling About It.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love walked into SoFi Stadium this summer expecting a certain kind of welcome. He got exactly that, and then some.

Love attended matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Los Angeles, the same building where the Rams and Chargers play. For a Packers quarterback, that crowd is basically enemy territory. And the fans let him know it.

“The World Cup was amazing … it is what it is,” Love said as Green Bay opened training camp. “You’re in LA. You’re in enemy territory, so it is what it is, but I had a great time there.”

The reaction was loud and mixed, mostly playful but unmistakable. Love took it in stride. He laughed it off and kept moving. That kind of composure is exactly why the Packers bet on him in the first place.

SoFi Stadium holds about 70,000 people for NFL games, and a huge chunk of Southern California roots hard for the Rams or Chargers. The Packers have been a regular thorn in both teams’ sides over the years. So Love showing up in a hoodie with a Packers logo somewhere on it? That was always going to draw some noise.

Love’s journey from backup to franchise guy

Drafted 26th overall in 2020, Love sat behind Aaron Rodgers for three seasons. That’s a long wait by any standard. But when he finally got the job in 2023, he delivered a breakout season — over 4,000 passing yards and 32 touchdowns, plus a playoff win.

Through three years as the starter now, Love has thrown for more than 11,000 yards and over 80 touchdowns. He’s not just a placeholder anymore. He’s the guy around whom Green Bay is building its next era.

Head coach Matt LaFleur has been adding new wrinkles to the offense this offseason, and expectations are rising fast. The roster is young, talented and hungry. Love is the veteran leader of that group now, even if he’s only 27.

As for the World Cup thing? Love enjoyed the soccer, soaked up the atmosphere and handled the boos like a guy who’s been booed before. He’ll probably hear it again when the Packers visit LA this season. Something tells me he won’t mind.
