The New York Knicks are running it back. Mostly.
Jordan Clarkson is re-signing with the team, according to his agent Rich Paul, as reported by Stefan Bondy of The New York Post. Clarkson’s decision comes after the Knicks won the championship — and after they spent the early part of free agency trying to hold the roster together.
They didn’t keep everyone. But they kept Clarkson.
New York made a real push to bring back the whole group. That didn’t happen. Some guys left for bigger money or bigger roles elsewhere. But the Knicks have been methodical about locking up the guys who fit. Clarkson fits. He’s a microwave scorer off the bench, the kind of player who can flip a quiet second quarter into a 10-0 run by himself.
Bondy broke the news on X. Clarkson’s deal is done, per Rich Paul. No word yet on the exact terms — years or dollars — but expect it to be in line with what a proven sixth man makes on a contender.
This isn’t a splashy move. It’s not gonna dominate SportsCenter. But for a team trying to defend a title, keeping your depth intact matters more than adding a new name. Clarkson averaged around 15 points last season and shot over 38 percent from three. He’s not a star. He’s a problem for the other team’s second unit.
And the Knicks still have their core. Jalen Brunson. Julius Randle. RJ Barrett. Mitchell Robinson. That group has been together, they’ve been through losses, and now they’ve got a ring. The front office clearly values continuity over chaos.
So Clarkson is back. That’s one more box checked for a team that doesn’t want to mess with what works.
