Jimmy Butler Had a One-Word Response to Fans Asking About a Heat Return

Jimmy Butler isn’t interested in going back to Miami. At least not right now.

A video surfaced online over the weekend showing a fan asking the Warriors star if he’d return to the Heat after the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade. Butler’s answer was short and clear.

“Nah.”

That was it. No explanation. No follow-up. Just one syllable and he moved on.

The Giannis trade changed everything in Miami

The Heat pulled off one of the biggest moves in recent NBA history, landing Giannis from the Milwaukee Bucks. That instantly made Miami a title favorite in the East and left some wondering if Butler might regret forcing his way out in 2025.

But apparently not. Butler burned those bridges thoroughly before he left. The relationship between him and the Heat organization was broken beyond repair after years of drama, public frustration, and eventually a trade demand that led him to Golden State at the 2025 deadline.

Butler led Miami to two NBA Finals appearances during his time there. The second one came in 2023 when the Heat made that improbable run as an eighth seed. But things soured fast after that, and by the time the 2024-25 season rolled around, it was clear he wanted out.

What’s next for Butler and the Warriors

The Warriors are in a weird spot right now. They extended Steve Kerr’s contract and drafted Yaxel Lendeborg out of Michigan with their first-round pick. But after losing in the play-in tournament last season, nobody’s picking them to contend in the West.

There’s also the Butler injury situation. He tore his ACL last season in a game against the Heat, of all teams. That ended his 2025-26 season early and could keep him out for a chunk of the upcoming season too. The Warriors haven’t given a firm timeline on his return.

When Butler and Stephen Curry have actually shared the floor, Golden State has looked legit. But banking on two guys in their mid-to-late thirties to stay healthy is a gamble. The front office knows that. Mike Dunleavy Jr. has been quiet so far this offseason, but the rumor mill says he’s still looking for moves.

NBA free agency opens June 30. We’ll see what happens.
