Jeremy Sochan really wants in on the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce wedding party at Madison Square Garden. And he’s not shy about it.
The San Antonio Spurs forward went public with his plea on social media, asking Knicks guard Josh Hart to be his plus-one after it came out that the Knicks’ starting five were invited to the July 3 event. Sochan posted, “What about me? 😞 Josh Hart can I be your plus 1?”
The question hung there, unanswered for now. Hart, who’s married, hasn’t said whether he even gets a plus-one. Odds are his wife gets the call if he does. But Sochan’s desperate pitch gave fans something to laugh about anyway.
Swift, a well-known Knicks fan, invited the team’s starting five — Jalen Brunson, OG Anunoby, Mikal Bridges, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Hart — to the wedding at MSG. The couple is reportedly enforcing a strict no-phones policy for the evening, so don’t expect any photos of the Knicks partying. That includes Sochan even if he somehow wrangles his way in.
The wedding caps off a massive year for the Knicks, who just won their first NBA Finals in 52 years. Swift watched the team’s historic 29-point comeback in Game 4 from a suite at the Garden. That probably sealed the invite for the starting lineup. The franchise’s first championship in her lifetime — pretty solid excuse to throw a party with the guys who made it happen.
Sochan’s long shot
Sochan might be in the NBA, but his connection to this specific circle is tenuous at best. He’s not on the Knicks. He’s never played with Hart. He just saw a cool thing happening and decided to shoot his shot publicly. It’s the kind of thing that works in fantasy leagues but rarely in real life.
Still, stranger things have happened at weddings. If Hart is feeling generous — or maybe just amused — he could slide Sochan a plus-one. But the couple has already locked down their guest list, and the no-phones rule suggests this is a tightly controlled affair. Don’t hold your breath, Jeremy.
