Jalen Brunson’s First Book Arrives Right After He Led the Knicks to a Title

Jalen Brunson just won the NBA Finals MVP. Now he’s adding author to the résumé.

The New York Knicks point guard announced Tuesday that his debut children’s book, Jalen Plays It All, will hit shelves in August 2027. Brunson shared the news on TODAY and posted a photo on Instagram holding a copy of the book.

“I’m beyond happy to share that JALEN PLAYS IT ALL, written by me and illustrated by the incredible [Neely Daggett], will be released (next year) by Feiwel & Friends,” Brunson wrote. “This children’s book is a story about discovering that success doesn’t happen overnight. There are mistakes, setbacks, and moments when giving up may feel easier than pushing forward. And while basketball was always at the center of my journey, every sport I played helped build the habits, character, and work ethic that made me who I am.”

What’s the book about and when can you get it?

Jalen Plays It All is available for pre-order now from major booksellers. Macmillan Publishers is handling the release. The official publication date is Aug. 3, 2027, just before the 2027-28 NBA season tips off.

The timing works out well. The Knicks are about a week removed from winning their first championship in 53 years, and Brunson’s stock has never been higher.

Finals MVP run made him a household name

Brunson dropped 45 points in Game 5 to close out the NBA Finals, earning Finals MVP honors. He averaged 32.6 points per game across the five-game series. During the regular season, he put up 26 points per game, made his third straight All-Star team and earned All-NBA Second Team honors for the third year in a row.

The 2025-26 season was a career year for Brunson. He’s the Knicks captain and the face of a franchise that just ended a half-century title drought. Now he’s got a book deal to go with the ring.
