Spurs Fan Faces Prison Time After Viral Wembanyama Court Storm — What He Did

The internet-fueled moment that had everyone laughing might just land a young San Antonio Spurs fan in legal hot water. Sources close to the investigation have confirmed that the minor who sprinted onto the court during Game 1 of the NBA Finals — hoping to snap a selfie with Spurs rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama — is now staring down potential criminal charges.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office reportedly told TMZ they intend to file two charges against the fan. The first, “Disrupting Meeting or Procession,” alleges the fan “intentionally disrupted a lawful gathering, namely, the Spurs basketball game, through physical interference.” The second charge, “Criminal Trespass,” claims the fan entered the basketball court “without the effective consent of the owner, despite having notice that entry onto the court was prohibited.” The sheriff’s statement added that the entry was made “by the intrusion of his entire body into the restricted area.”

Insiders tell us that while the charges are not yet formally filed, the incident has sparked serious discussion among league officials and local authorities about the escalating risk of fan intrusions. One source close to the NBA’s security team said, “This isn’t just about one kid wanting a photo — it’s a safety issue. If it becomes a trend, you’re looking at potential changes to arena protocols that could affect every game.”

The NBA has already issued a statement, reportedly confirming that the fan “was arrested & will be banned for life from all NBA arenas.” A second individual involved in the disruption will also reportedly receive a lifetime ban. Social media exploded after a fan-captured video showed the moment from a first-person perspective, with the caption, “Wemby was too tall to fit in the video.”

Wembanyama himself seemed genuinely stunned by the intrusion, telling reporters, “I’ve never been in that situation. I didn’t know how to act. It really surprised me almost as much as that time where a bat crashed the court.” Sources say the Spurs organization has been tight-lipped, but one team insider admitted, “Victor handled it with grace, but believe me, the front office is not happy about the distraction during a Finals game.”

Because the fan is a minor, his identity has not been released. However, insiders suggest that the combination of a lifetime ban and potential criminal charges could set a precedent — and fans are buzzing about whether the punishment fits the crime. Meanwhile, the Knicks won Game 1 with a 105-95 victory and are set to face the Spurs again on June 5 at Frost Bank Arena.
