Curt Cignetti keeps doing things at Indiana that nobody saw coming. First he took the Hoosiers to the College Football Playoff. Then he landed the program’s highest-rated recruit ever in receiver Monshun Sales. Now he’s done it again.
Lukas Prock, a four-star quarterback from New Jersey, committed to Indiana on Tuesday. He picked the Hoosiers over Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, and Florida. That’s not a typo. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound signal caller is ranked as a top-5 quarterback in the 2028 class by Rivals.
Prock told Chad Simmons of Rivals the decision came together quickly over the last month.
“I kind of got serious about it the last month or so,” Prock said. “I started to cut things down and lock in with a school so I wouldn’t have to worry about it. I didn’t want to rush it, and I don’t think it’s rushed at all. After conversations with my family, the decision became clear. We came to the conclusion that Indiana is the best spot for me and my future.”
Prock was originally planning to wait until after his junior season to commit. But he changed his mind. Part of that is because he believes in what Cignetti is building.
“I fully trust that Coach Cignetti is going to put his guys in the right position to succeed,” Prock said. “That’s what I’m looking for. I actually do think they can sustain it. That’s a big part of why I’m committing. I see the future, and I think Coach Cignetti can keep that standard there no matter who’s in the building.”
Cignetti’s track record speaks for itself. He won at James Madison. He won at Elon. And he turned Indiana into a legitimate contender in year one, taking them to their first national championship appearance. Prock noticed.
“My thought process was, if I feel comfortable enough and the staff feels the same way, then what’s the point of waiting?” Prock said. “There’s no spot I’d rather be than Indiana, so why would I wait for somebody else to take that opportunity?”
Prock is the third-highest ranked player in the 2028 class to make his college decision. He joins fellow top QBs Jayden Wade (Georgia) and Jett Harrison (Ohio State) in ending his recruitment early. But while those two went to college football royalty, Prock chose the program that’s rewriting its own story in real time.
