Eric Stonestreet Says Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Gave Wedding Guests a ‘Gift’ They’re Not Talking About

Eric Stonestreet has been to a lot of weddings. But even he had to stop and appreciate what Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce pulled off at theirs.

The “Modern Family” star, who’s a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan and a longtime friend of the couple, was a guest at the private ceremony. And while everyone’s been focused on the obvious headline — that Swift and Kelce got married at all — Stonestreet noticed something else.

He told People the real “gift” wasn’t just the venue, which happened to be Madison Square Garden. It was the way the couple turned one of the most famous arenas in the world into something that felt small and personal.

“I think my favorite moment was just that they created a place that they could have the normalcy that they deserve,” Stonestreet said. “And it just happened to be at Madison Square Garden with security making sure everybody was safe and good and they could just have a night for themselves.”

For Stonestreet, the intimacy of the night was a gesture that went both ways. “I really thought of it as what a gift they gave to us too,” he said. “It’s one thing nobody’s talking about is what a gesture it was to those people that they invited and to welcome us and to provide such an incredible night and then to provide such incredible generous donations to charities in New York and Kansas City and everywhere else.”

An Actual Wedding at the Garden

Swift and Kelce chose MSG for the ceremony, which meant the venue was locked down tight. Stonestreet described a vibe that was more house party than stadium concert — security made sure the couple and their guests could just hang out without the circus following them around.

He called the whole thing “awesome,” which tracks for a guy who’s known both of them for years. Stonestreet is famously a Chiefs superfan, so he’s been in Kelce’s orbit for a while. And Swift? Well, she’s been dating the guy he cheers for every Sunday.

Stonestreet attended the wedding with his wife, Lindsay Schweitzer, whom he married in 2025. The actor, who played Cam on the hit sitcom from 2009 to 2020, was born in Kansas City, Kansas. So yeah, he’s about as close to this couple’s inner circle as any celebrity guest could get without being family.

But the takeaway from Stonestreet’s comments isn’t just that Swift and Kelce threw a good party. It’s that they prioritized something a lot of famous couples don’t: making their guests feel like regular people for one night. And at Madison Square Garden, of all places.

That’s the part Stonestreet thinks people are missing. The couple didn’t just get married somewhere cool. They used that iconic venue to create a bubble where everyone inside could forget about the cameras and the headlines. And then they turned around and donated to charities in the cities that matter most to them.

Not a bad way to start a marriage.
