Running back Cam Skatteboe just sent a jolt of panic through the New York Giants fanbase, and Skip Bayless wants John Harbaugh to crack down. Hard.
The second-year back was at WWE’s Fanatics Fest in New York over the weekend when he decided to fire up the crowd with a backflip. Bad idea. Skatteboe blew out his ankle last October during his rookie season — a dislocation that required surgery and ended his 2025 campaign after just eight games. That ankle, surgically repaired, is the one that buckled when he tried to stick the landing.
Witnesses said his right leg twisted violently as he hit the ground. Skatteboe popped up fast, clapping and yelling like nothing happened. The video from the event tells a different story. He didn’t land clean. It looked rough.
Bayless didn’t bite on the bravado. He went straight to social media and called for a fine. “If I’m John Harbaugh and the Giants, I fine Skattebo,” Bayless wrote. “So season-risking reckless.”
You can see why he’s pissed. Skatteboe was one of the brighter spots for a Giants offense that needed playmakers last year. A fourth-round pick out of Arizona State, he ran for 410 yards and five touchdowns on 101 carries before the injury. New York is counting on him to be a core piece of the ground game. Seeing him huck himself around like an action hero in July — with that same ankle — is not what the front office wants to see.
This isn’t even the first time he’s pulled this since the surgery. Back in May, Skatteboe crushed a home run during a charity softball game and then hit a clean backflip. That one worked. This one didn’t.
The guy clearly believes his ankle is fully healed. He’s confident, maybe too confident. Harbaugh probably just wants him to save the flips for the end zone and keep both feet on the ground until the season actually starts.
