Bryce Harper Says FanDuel Used His Cameo Video Without Permission. Now He’s Speaking Out.

Bryce Harper is not happy with FanDuel. And he wants everyone to know it.

The Phillies star broke his silence Monday on a viral video that showed him sending a message to a bettor who had lost more than a million dollars. The clip, which FanDuel used as a promotional tool, drew heavy criticism online. Critics said it was another sign of how unhinged sports gambling culture has gotten.

But Harper claims he had no idea what he was actually signing up for.

According to ESPN’s David Purdum, Harper said he did not give FanDuel consent to use the video for promotion. He said he was never told that’s what it was for.

“I did not know FanDuel would do this,” Harper wrote in a lengthy Instagram post. “I did not consent to it, and FanDuel had no right to do it. Had I known FanDuel’s true intent, I would not have made the video. The same is true had I known anything about Terry or his situation, or about any alleged ‘partnership’ between Cameo and FanDuel.”

Here’s what happened. Back in 2024, Harper made the video through Cameo for a customer. He thought it was just a personal holiday message for a guy named Terry. The request came from someone named Bryttanni, who turns out to be a host for FanDuel.

Terry Thompson is the guy in the video. And his story is a mess. In March 2026, Thompson sued FanDuel, Bryttanni Morgan, DraftKings, the NFL, the league’s data distributor, and Genius Sports. He claims they all helped turn him into a gambling addict. Thompson says he’s lost $2 million betting.

The lawsuit alleges Morgan hit Thompson with promotional offers and gifts — including tickets and hotel stays for the Super Bowl — to get him to gamble more on FanDuel.

So now Harper is caught in the middle of a situation he says he never signed up for. He’s not just annoyed. He’s publicly calling out a major sportsbook for using his name and face without permission and linking him to a story about addiction and massive losses.

For now, Harper is turning his focus back to baseball. He was set to compete in the Home Run Derby on Monday night, and he’ll play in the All-Star Game on Tuesday. But this FanDuel mess isn’t going away anytime soon.
