Brady Tkachuk to Panthers. The 6-Word Post That Broke the Internet.

The trade rumors had been swirling for weeks. On Sunday, it was done. The Ottawa Senators sent Brady Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers for the No. 9 and No. 25 picks in this week’s NHL Draft, plus a conditional first-rounder in 2029 and a second-round pick in 2027.

Tkachuk had made it clear he didn’t see a future in Ottawa. The front office had no choice but to move him. He’s still got two years left on that seven-year, $57.5 million contract.

The 26-year-old forward won’t have much trouble settling in. That’s because his older brother Matthew Tkachuk is already wearing a Panthers sweater. Two brothers, one team. Doesn’t get much better than that.

Florida kept the announcement simple on X. Just six words: “Brady Tkachuk is a Florida Panther.” That’s it. No fanfare. No hype video. Just the facts.

The post has already racked up over 361,000 views. And the replies? They came fast.

Fans had thoughts. Strong ones.

One user called him “Possibly the most overrated player in the NHL. But congrats.” Another said the Panthers will be “the most exciting team and also the most hated team in the league next season.” Somebody else predicted the league will love “pounding the crap out of these guys.” And one fan took a shot at Tkachuk’s checkered history with Jordan Staal: “Tell him to remember to wish his daddy Jordan Staal a Happy Father’s Day.”

It’s going to be a circus. But that’s kind of the point. The Panthers already play with an edge. Adding Brady Tkachuk only turns that up. He brings the same physical, loud, agitating style his brother has turned into an art form. Opponents are going to hate playing against this team. Florida fans are going to love watching it.

The Senators, for their part, now load up on draft capital. Three first-round picks over the next two drafts, plus that extra second-rounder. It’s a rebuild. A real one this time. They get a chance to reset around younger, cheaper talent. But they lose a guy who could have been the face of the franchise for a decade.

For Florida, the window is now. The team just went to the Stanley Cup Final. They added a 30-goal scorer who plays like his hair is on fire. The brothers are together. The X post says it all.
