Ben Johnson’s Unenthusiastic Hallmark Movie Announcement Has Bears Fans Roasting Him

The Chicago Bears are getting the Hallmark Christmas movie treatment, but their head coach looked like he’d rather be anywhere else. Ben Johnson isn’t exactly selling holiday cheer.

The Bears will star in this year’s “Holiday Touchdown: A Bears Love Story,” the third installment in Hallmark’s NFL-themed movie series. Johnson appeared in the social media announcement alongside tight end Colston Loveland, and let’s just say his face wasn’t screaming “ho ho ho.”

One fan had the perfect read on it: “Ben Johnson so pissed admin took him away from watching film to take part in this.” Another person said he looked like he was reading a ransom note. (Tough crowd, but fair.)

Johnson did manage to say that he and his wife Jessica will be tuning in. Which is nice. But the internet is a harsh place, especially when a football coach looks like he’s being held hostage by a movie promotion.

From Detroit to Chicago to Christmas movies

Johnson is heading into his second season as Bears head coach after making a name for himself as Detroit’s offensive coordinator. His first year in Chicago went pretty well — the Bears made the Divisional Round of the playoffs before losing to the Rams. Not bad for a first-year head coach who apparently hates Hallmark.

The previous two films in the series featured the Chiefs and the Bills, with cameos from actual players. The first one cashed in on the Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce hype, but now it’s a full-blown franchise.

When does the Bears Christmas movie drop?

No exact premiere date yet, but it’ll air as part of Hallmark’s 17th annual Countdown to Christmas later in 2026. Filming starts this summer and will happen entirely in and around Chicago, with all the iconic locations you’d expect.

No word on which players will show up for cameos. But given how much fans roasted Johnson for this announcement, maybe they’ll keep the players in the background.
