Barcelona and Atletico Madrid Want Benjamin Sesko. Manchester United’s Answer Is Firm.

Benjamin Sesko is not going anywhere. That’s the message Manchester United have been sending back to every club that’s come calling this summer, and there have been a few.

Barcelona have been sniffing around. Atletico Madrid too, especially with Julian Alvarez’s situation at the other end of the Spanish capital getting messy. But according to multiple reports, United have made it clear — Sesko is off the table. No conversations. No price tag. No circumstances where they’d even listen.

This is notable because Sesko’s first year at Old Trafford didn’t exactly scream “untouchable.” He arrived from RB Leipzig last summer in a big-money move and took a while to find his feet. Injuries slowed him down early. There were stretches where he looked like a player still adjusting to the league, still figuring out where he fit.

Then Michael Carrick took over for Ruben Amorim, and something clicked.

Sesko finished the 2025/26 season with 11 Premier League goals. Nothing flashy about that number necessarily, but here’s the thing — no one scored more in the second half of the campaign. The Slovenian went on a tear once Carrick settled into the job. The manager gave him freedom, and Sesko responded.

People close to the player say he “loves” working under Carrick. That relationship has only strengthened United’s resolve to keep him. Carrick views Sesko as a central piece of what he’s building. United’s front office sees a 23-year-old who’s only scratched the surface, especially given the injuries that ate into his first season.

TEAMtalk reported that intermediaries from Barcelona and Atletico have checked in on Sesko’s availability. Graeme Bailey added that United were not interested in those conversations. At all.

Barcelona’s dream is still Julian Alvarez, but Atletico aren’t playing ball there. So Barca pivoted to Plan B, which apparently included a look at Sesko. Paris Saint-Germain are also reportedly admirers. But none of that matters if United won’t deal.

Sesko’s market value will only go up if he stays healthy and builds on this year. The club knows that. Carrick knows that. And right now, they’re betting he’s worth more to them than whatever check someone else might write.
