Casemiro Eyes Messi Reunion as Inter Miami Push for Deal

Casemiro is closing in on a move to Inter Miami, according to Sky Sports. The Brazilian midfielder wants to link up with Lionel Messi in South Florida, and the deal could get done before the summer window closes.

Inter Miami has turned into a retirement home for all-timers at this point. Messi, Jordi Alba, Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets — and now potentially Casemiro. The 34-year-old left Manchester United this summer after four seasons at Old Trafford. His time there had its ups and downs, but his trophy case speaks for itself: five Champions League titles, multiple league crowns, and a Copa America with Brazil.

If this goes through, Miami basically fields a squad that could’ve won the 2015 Champions League. Not bad for an MLS side.

Liverpool’s Big Bid for Diomande Falls Short

Liverpool had an £87 million offer for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande turned down, per the Liverpool Echo. The Reds have been circling the Ivory Coast international for a few weeks now. But Leipzig wants at least £100 million, and they’re not budging.

Diomande is currently at the World Cup with Ivory Coast, which complicates any negotiations. Liverpool might have to wait until after the tournament to try again. Or they could just pay the asking price now. Premier League clubs have been known to overpay when they really want a guy in January.

Ronaldinho Comes Out of Retirement at 46

In the weirdest story of the day, Brazilian legend Ronaldinho has unretired to join Serie C side Ravenna FC. He’s 46 years old. He hasn’t played professionally since 2015 with Fluminense. But he’s also a shareholder at Ravenna, so this is part ownership, part nostalgia trip.

Ronaldinho said: “New colours, same smile. I cannot wait to dance with the ball and write a beautiful new story with Ignazio Cipriani and the Cipriani family. Football has always been joyful for me, and I’m excited to bring that spirit to Ravenna. Let the magic begin!”

Ravenna fans are probably losing it. Whether he actually plays meaningful minutes or just trots out for set pieces and free kicks remains to be seen. But you can’t say the guy doesn’t know how to make an entrance.

Real Madrid Shuts Down Olise Rumors

Real Madrid issued a statement officially denying any interest in Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise. Reports had been floating around for weeks linking the French winger to the Bernabeu. Madrid’s response was blunt: no contact with the player, his agents, or anyone close to him.

The club statement read: “In light of the information published in various media outlets regarding an alleged interest of our club in Bayern Munich player Michael Olise, Real Madrid C. F. wishes to clarify that it has not had any direct or indirect contact with the aforementioned footballer, his representatives, or individuals in his circle. Real Madrid also wishes to highlight the excellent institutional relationship it maintains with Bayern Munich, with whom it shares a long history of mutual respect, collaboration, and admiration, and regrets the dissemination of speculations that do not correspond to reality.”

So that’s that. Unless something changes, Olise stays in Munich and the rumor mill finds a new target.
