The Three Lions are still licking their wounds after a heartbreaking 2-1 semifinal loss to Argentina in Atlanta on Wednesday, where a late goal ended their hopes.
Now they’re back in sweltering Miami, and Tuchel is managing fatigue while trying to give minutes to players who haven’t seen much action so far. The heat won’t make it any easier on anyone.
Golden Boot race adds motivation
Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham are both sitting on six goals each this tournament, still chasing the Golden Boot. Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi currently lead with eight apiece, so there’s plenty of incentive for those two to start the bronze match and pad their stats.
But Tuchel’s decision isn’t just about individual awards. He’s got a squad full of players who’ve been grinding through a long tournament and a roster that needs to be managed carefully.
