Dillon Brooks is not exactly subtle about how he feels about LeBron James. The Phoenix Suns forward made that clear again this week, this time through an NBA 2K League clip that’s already making the rounds on social media.
Brooks, 30, essentially begged James to return for another season. Not because he’s a fan. Because he wants another crack at guarding him.
“This is me saying, LeBron, come back for one more year,” Brooks said. “You know what I’m saying? Come back for one more year, man. Stop all this waiting s***.”
When someone told Brooks he’s the biggest LeBron hater on the planet, he didn’t argue. “Oh, I’m top, I’m top for sure,” he said, laughing.
Brooks vs. James: A One-Sided Rivalry
Brooks has built a reputation as one of the league’s most relentless trash-talkers. He’ll go at anyone. But James seems to get an extra dose. Over 21 career matchups, James has averaged 23.6 points against Brooks — a tick below his career average of 26.8, but still plenty effective.
None of that stops Brooks from wanting the smoke. The guy clearly enjoys the challenge, even if the numbers don’t exactly back up the bravado.
James, 41, is the biggest name in free agency this offseason. He hasn’t announced his next move yet, and the rumor mill is spinning hard. The Suns are one of the teams reportedly in the mix, though nothing is confirmed.
Brooks, meanwhile, is locked in with Phoenix for the 2026-27 season after one of the best years of his career. He averaged 20.2 points (a career high), 3.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 43.5% from the floor and 34.4% from three. That’s pretty good for a guy who spends half his energy running his mouth.
Whether James actually ends up in Phoenix is anyone’s guess. But if he does, Brooks will be waiting. And he’ll have something to say about it.
