The Los Angeles Rams are already loading up for a Super Bowl run. They added Jaylen Watson and Trent McDuffie from the Chiefs to shore up the secondary. They traded for Myles Garrett, the best defensive player in football, in the offseason’s biggest deal. And now there’s a real chance they could bring back the guy who used to own that title.
Davante Adams posted a photo on his Instagram story Wednesday showing him with Aaron Donald. The caption read simply: “My Brudda.” That might not sound like much, but for a fanbase that has been tracking Donald’s every move since he retired after the 2023 season, it’s the kind of breadcrumb that gets people talking.
The Donald-Garrett pairing that would wreck offenses
Donald has been a three-time Defensive Player of the Year. He made the Pro Bowl in all 10 of his NFL seasons. He walked away at age 32, which is young for a defensive tackle, especially one who still looked like a force in his final season. The Rams have let him use their facilities in the past, but he was spotted working out there again recently. That alone got the rumor mill spinning.
Now you add Garrett off the edge and Donald collapsing the pocket from the inside. That’s the kind of defensive line that makes offensive coordinators lose sleep. The Rams would have two of the most disruptive players in league history rushing the passer together. It almost doesn’t seem fair.
Donald has not said anything publicly about a comeback. The team has not confirmed anything either. But Adams posting that photo, right after Garrett arrived and right after Donald was seen at the facility, feels like more than coincidence.
Matthew Stafford is coming off an MVP season. Adams and Puka Nacua give the Rams the best wide receiver duo in the league. The offense is already elite. Adding Donald to a defense that just added Garrett would make Los Angeles the clear favorite in the NFC. Maybe beyond.
Donald has spent his entire career with the Rams, from St. Louis to Los Angeles. He has nothing left to prove. But players like him don’t usually stay retired long when they see a team this close to another ring. And his teammates are clearly letting him know the door is open.
