Patrick Beverley Roasts Tyler Herro After Report of Bam Adebayo Punch in Vegas

The Miami Heat’s Giannis Antetokounmpo era is barely a month old, and already there’s smoke coming from the summer league floor in Las Vegas. Reports surfaced that former Heat teammates Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro got into a physical altercation during NBA Summer League, with Adebayo allegedly punching Herro after a heated exchange tied to recent social media criticism. Neither the Heat nor the Milwaukee Bucks have confirmed the details, but the internet has already picked a side.

Patrick Beverley definitely picked one. The veteran guard, never shy about speaking his mind, took to social media to mock Herro’s role in the incident.

“Tyler, you letting this man punch on you in Vegas, man? If you don’t go take some lessons, man,” Beverley posted, along with a brief video clip. The post spread fast, turning what might have been a quiet summer league rumor into a full-blown offseason storyline.

The confrontation comes just weeks after the Heat sent Herro to Milwaukee as part of the blockbuster package that landed Antetokounmpo in Miami. That deal ended a seven-year partnership between Herro and Adebayo that helped define the Heat’s recent run. Two Finals appearances. A Sixth Man of the Year trophy for Herro in 2022. A first All-Star nod for Herro after he averaged a career-best 23.9 points during the 2024-25 season. Over seven NBA seasons, Herro has put up 19.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. That’s real production.

But the split that looked amicable on paper is suddenly messy. The reported punch adds a personal edge to what was already a franchise-altering trade. Adebayo stayed in Miami as the anchor of the new-look Heat. Herro heads to Milwaukee as part of the package that made the deal work. Summer league should be about rookies and second-round picks fighting for roster spots. Instead, it’s become the backdrop for one of the more bizarre off-court moments of the NBA offseason.

Neither team has offered much detail beyond acknowledging they’re aware of the reports. That silence leaves Beverley’s comments hanging in the air, and Herro hasn’t responded publicly. The whole thing feels like it’s not quite over.
