Caitlin Clark’s first signature sneaker with Nike hasn’t even hit shelves everywhere yet, and it’s already got hip-hop royalty paying attention.
Kid Cudi, the Grammy-winning rapper, saw the new all-black “Triple Black” version of Clark’s Nike Caitlin 1 and did what anyone would do when they see something they want. He posted the photo on X with one word: “Need.”
That’s it. Just “Need.” And the internet ran with it.
The Indiana Fever star wore a bright yellow colorway of the shoe ahead of Wednesday’s game in Los Angeles, but the blacked-out version is what caught Cudi’s eye. It’s a completely different look from the loud colors Clark has been rocking so far, and sneaker fans are already calling it a must-cop.
This isn’t the first time Cudi and Clark have crossed paths. They’ve been seen together recently, trading messages on social media and generally showing mutual respect. Cudi’s reaction feels less like a random celebrity endorsement and more like a friend hyping up a friend’s new gear.
The Caitlin 1 is built for guards who move fast and change direction quick. It’s a low-cut shoe with a sculpted foam midsole and traction pattern designed for sharp cuts. The design also has subtle nods to Clark’s initials and jersey number, plus layered Swooshes in blue and metallic green. According to HypeBeast, personal mantras are printed on the outsole too, which is a nice touch for a debut signature model.
Nike hasn’t set a release date for the “Triple Black” colorway yet, but it’s expected sometime later this year. With Cudi publicly staking his claim and Clark’s star power still rising fast, you can bet those pairs will move quick.
Clark didn’t respond to Cudi’s post, but she didn’t really have to. When Kid Cudi says he needs your sneakers, your sneakers are already winning.
