A Teen Winger From PSG Just Hit Man United’s Radar and the Price Tag Is Surprising

The summer transfer window hasn’t even fully heated up and Manchester United are already digging into the Parisian talent pool. Forget the established Premier League wingers for a second. The club’s recruitment team is now tracking an 18-year-old PSG kid who made 31 appearances under Luis Enrique last season and might be gettable for a surprisingly reasonable fee.

Ibrahim Mbaye is the name. He’s a Senegal international, can play both flanks or slot in as an attacking midfielder, and United are one of three Premier League clubs reportedly circling. According to United in Focus, Tottenham and Aston Villa are also in the mix. The asking price from PSG is believed to be around €35 million — roughly £30 million — but Premier League sides are apparently preparing offers closer to €25 million to gauge how serious the Ligue 1 champions really are about selling.

Mbaye’s situation is interesting. He got regular minutes under Enrique last year — 31 appearances isn’t nothing for a teenager at a club that spends like PSG — but he’s apparently open to leaving. His representatives are trying to talk him into staying in Paris, but the kid wants to play more. Like, consistently. Not just spot minutes and cup games. That ambition reportedly makes a Premier League move this summer a “highly realistic scenario.”

United’s left-wing situation is still a mess

Michael Carrick needs to sort out the left flank. Marcus Rashford’s future is uncertain — nobody at Old Trafford seems to know whether he’s staying or going — and the club has been linked with a bunch of wingers already. West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville is supposedly the priority target. He only wants United, according to reports. Views them as the place where he can compete for Champions League and Premier League trophies. That’s what his camp is saying, anyway.

But having multiple targets is smart. Mbaye is younger, cheaper, and more versatile than Summerville. He’s not the finished product by any stretch, but he’s the kind of signing that makes sense if you’re planning for two or three years down the road. United want a versatile forward this summer and Mbaye fits that description — he can play left, right, or central. That’s not nothing.

The kid is still developing. Eighteen years old, fast, technical, but raw. PSG have a habit of hoarding young talent and then letting guys leave before they peak. If United can get this done for around £25-30 million, it’s a bet on potential rather than a proven Premier League performer. And that’s kind of where United are right now — trying to balance immediate need with long-term planning.

Summerville is still the name to watch for this summer. But Mbaye is the one that might actually happen if the price drops a little and the player pushes for a move.
