The Philadelphia 76ers pulled off a trade that nobody saw the full outline of until it was done. They sent Paul George, two future first-round picks and two future second-round picks to Boston. In return? Jaylen Brown. And the first person to pop off about it on social media was Allen Iverson.
Iverson posted a photoshopped image of Brown in a Sixers uniform on his Instagram. The Hall of Famer kept the caption short. Three words. “Let’s Go jack.” That was it. That was enough to send Sixers fans into another orbit.
A career year makes this feel like a steal
Brown just finished the 2025-26 season averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game. All three numbers are career highs. He shot 47.7 percent from the floor and 34.7 percent from three. He is 29 years old, squarely in his prime and now shares a backcourt with Tyrese Maxey and rookie VJ Edgecombe. Joel Embiid is still in the frontcourt. That is a lot of firepower.
Early rumors had the Celtics asking for four or five first-round picks. The Sixers ended up giving two, plus two seconds and George. George is a solid two-way player and he was fine in Philly. But fine doesn’t win titles when Embiid’s window is getting tighter every year.
The Sixers got bounced from the playoffs last season. This move says they are not interested in building slowly. They want to win now. Brown gives them a secondary scorer who can create his own shot, defend at a high level and handle the ball in big moments. He has been to the Finals. He knows what it takes.
Nobody is handing Philadelphia the Eastern Conference just yet. But the roster looks different. It looks dangerous. And if Allen Iverson is already hyped about it on Instagram, the city is going to be absolutely buzzing by October.
