“There might be an instinct here to think that Luka Dončić helped push LeBron James out the door, but league sources who know both, who were granted anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the situation, insist the two players had no personal issues with one another,” Woike wrote.
That’s about as direct as an anonymous source gets. And frankly it lines up with what we saw on the court. The two looked fine playing together. Did they set the league on fire the way some hoped? No. But that’s more about fit and health than any personal friction.
The Reality of That Short-Lived Duo
James and Doncic only shared the floor for a handful of games before the 41-year-old decided to move on. Injuries messed with the timeline. Chemistry needs reps, and they never really got enough of them.
