Milan Lands Gonçalo Ramos on a Five-Year Deal from PSG

AC Milan just pulled off a serious piece of business. The club officially announced Tuesday that Portuguese striker Gonçalo Ramos has arrived from Paris Saint-Germain, signing a contract that runs through June 2031. No loan with an option here. This is a straight-up permanent transfer.

Ramos, 25, leaves PSG with a trophy case that borders on ridiculous — three Ligue 1 titles, two Champions League crowns, a UEFA Super Cup, and a FIFA Intercontinental Cup among other hardware. He scored 45 goals in 131 appearances across all competitions for the Parisians. But his path to this moment started way before the bright lights of the Parc des Princes.

The Benfica Breakout

Born in Olhão, a coastal town in Portugal’s Algarve region, Ramos cut his teeth at S.C. Olhanense before joining Benfica’s famed academy. He made his senior debut for the Eagles in 2019 and went on to rack up over 100 appearances and 41 goals for the club. His breakout came during the 2022-23 season, when he helped Benfica win the Primeira Liga title and cemented himself as one of Portugal’s most dangerous forwards.

That form earned him a move to PSG in the summer of 2023. It also locked him into a starting role with Portugal’s senior national team. He made his international debut in November 2022 and has since played in two World Cups. Oh, and he was part of Portugal’s UEFA Nations League-winning squad in 2024-25.

What Ramos Brings to Milan

Milan needed a reliable finisher, and Ramos fits the profile. He’s a traditional No. 9 who can also drift wide or drop deep to link play. At 6-foot-1, he’s strong in the air and aggressive in the box. His movement off the ball is the kind of thing that opens up space for wingers and attacking midfielders — something Milan’s attack has lacked at times.

The Rossoneri have been hunting for a long-term answer up front, and Ramos has the pedigree to be exactly that. He’s entering his prime years and has experience in high-pressure environments, from Champions League knockout rounds to World Cup elimination games.

One potential question: how quickly will he adapt to Serie A? The league is more tactical and defensive than Ligue 1, and Ramos will face tighter marking and less space to operate. But his technical foundation is solid, and playing under Paulo Fonseca’s system could suit his instincts.

PSG’s Loss, Milan’s Gain

PSG didn’t exactly need to sell, but Ramos was never the undisputed star in Paris. With Kylian Mbappe gone and a new project taking shape, the club apparently decided to cash in on a player with value rather than risk a free exit down the line. Milan pounced.

The deal gives Milan a striker who knows how to win. Three Ligue 1 titles. Two Champions League trophies. A Nations League medal. That kind of winning experience doesn’t show up on a stat sheet, but it matters in a locker room trying to climb back to the top of Italian soccer.

Ramos will likely be introduced at San Siro in the coming days. No word yet on his jersey number. But Milan fans already know what he looks like in red and black. The club posted the announcement — and the photos — early Tuesday afternoon. The official line: “AC Milan welcomes Gonçalo Ramos and wishes him every success with the Rossoneri.”
