The internet loves a good bathroom joke. And Major League Baseball is happy to join in.
After folk singer Noah Kahan’s concert at Citizens Bank Park last Friday ended with a fan leaving behind something less than pleasant on the stadium floor, the MLB’s official X account saw an opening and took it. On Monday, when the Phillies hosted the Pittsburgh Pirates for their first home game since the show, the scoreboard in the early innings read “PHI 0, PIT 0.” Which, if you squint, looks a lot like — well, you know.
The league posted a screenshot of the scoreboard and tagged Kahan: “what do you know about poop & Citizens Bank Park?”
The whole thing snowballed from a single incident during Kahan’s concert. A fan reportedly defecated on the stadium floor during the show and just left it there. Social media, predictably, lost its mind. The story quickly got its own name: Poopgate.

Kahan addressed it directly on X in a post that’s now been viewed more than 12.6 million times. “If you have to poop at a show please dear god just go to the bathroom lmao,” he wrote. “I’ve pooped my pants as much as the next 29 year old but you guys gotta understand there’s a venue worker out there with a 1000 yard stare after dealing with that.”
It’s not like Kahan is judging from some high horse. He admitted during a show in Charlottesville that he once “s**t myself onstage.” His reasoning? He’s just “dedicated to my craft,” apparently.
At the next stop on his tour in Toronto, Kahan made the crowd swear they wouldn’t repeat the Philadelphia fan’s move. Hopefully the trend dies there. One stadium worker already has a story they’ll never forget.
