Juventus CEO Confirms He’s Never Spoken to Vlahovic About a New Deal

Dusan Vlahovic is about to become a free agent. And Juventus’s CEO just admitted he hasn’t even tried to keep him.

Giovanni Carnevali confirmed Monday that he has never discussed a contract extension with the Serbian striker. That’s not a great sign for a guy whose deal expires June 30. When asked about it, Carnevali told reporters: ‘Anything is possible in football. There can be possibilities tomorrow that do not exist today. He’s a great player but today, he’s not in our thoughts.’

That’s about as clear as a foggy window. Vlahovic is one of 49 Serie A players set to hit the open market by end of day Tuesday. And he’s the biggest name on the list by a long shot.

The full list of free agents

Nineteen of the league’s 20 clubs have at least one player entering free agency. Atalanta is the only team with zero expiring contracts. Some clubs are still working on extensions. Roma is in talks with Paulo Dybala, Zeki Celik, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Stephan El Shaarawy. Inter is trying to lock down Henrikh Mkhitaryan. But for everyone else, June 30 is a hard deadline.

Here’s the full rundown of players who become free agents today:

Bologna: Kevin Bonifanzi, Lorenzo De Silvestri (extension talks ongoing), Remo Freuler, Charalampos Lykogiannis.

Cagliari: Andrea Belotti, Leonardo Pavoletti.

Como: Alberto Moreno, Sergi Roberto, Mauro Vigorito.

Fiorentina: Abdelhamid Sabiri.

Frosinone: Sergio Kalaj, Riccardo Marchizza, Edoardo Masciangelo, Matteo Pisseri, Alessandro Selvini, Edoardo Vergani.

Genoa: Caleb Ekuban, Nicola Leali, Daniele Sommariva.

Inter: Francesco Acerbi, Yann Sommer, Stefan De Vrij, Matteo Darmian, Raffaele Di Gennaro, Henrikh Mkhitaryan (extension talks ongoing).

Juventus: Filip Kostic, Dusan Vlahovic.

Lazio: Elseid Hysaj, Pedro.

Lecce: Thorir Johann Helgason.

Milan: Luka Modric, Pietro Terracciano.

Monza: Mirko Maric.

Napoli: Juan Jesus.

Parma: Nahuel Estevez.

Roma: Zeki Celik, Paulo Dybala, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Stephan El Shaarawy (all in extension talks).

Sassuolo: Filippo Romagna, Giacomo Satalino.

Torino: Valentino Lazaro, Guillermo Maripan, Zanos Savva, Sava Sazonov, Adrien Tameze.

Udinese: Kingsley Ehizibue.

Venezia: Ridgeciano Haps (extension talks ongoing), Stefano Minelli.

Some of these guys will sign new deals before the clock hits midnight. Some won’t. For Vlahovic, the clock is ticking louder than anyone else’s.
