Maghnes Akliouche Told Liverpool and Man United His Mind. PSG Won.

Liverpool and Manchester United just got a clear answer from Maghnes Akliouche, and it wasn’t the one they were hoping for. The Monaco midfielder has told both Premier League clubs that Paris Saint-Germain is his first choice this summer, according to TEAMtalk.

And here’s the thing — PSG isn’t waiting around. The Ligue 1 champions are already pushing forward in talks with Monaco. ESPN has reported that PSG sees Akliouche as a priority target. So this isn’t just interest. It’s movement.

Why Akliouche makes sense for PSG

The 22-year-old French international had a standout season at Monaco. He’s an attacking midfielder who can play across the front line, and his game is built on the kind of stuff that doesn’t always show up on a stat sheet. Tight control. Composure in crowded spaces. The ability to find pockets between defenders and actually do something with the ball once he gets there.

For Liverpool, he fit into a larger plan. The club is looking at younger creative options as part of an attacking refresh. For United, he was a flexible piece that could add quality in the final third and give their attack a different shape.

But PSG has a few things the Premier League clubs can’t match. Champions League football. Domestic dominance. A French football project with Luis Enrique at the wheel. For a France international already playing in Ligue 1, that’s a hard package to turn down.

Who feels this more — Liverpool or United?

Honestly, this hurts Liverpool more. United has other midfield priorities this summer. Liverpool looks like it’s searching more urgently for attacking creativity and long-term replacements up front. Akliouche would have fit their style well. He’s press-resistant. Technically sharp. Comfortable taking the ball in tight spaces. Those guys are hard to find.

Still, once a player tells you his mind is made up, it’s probably best to move on. Unless the PSG deal somehow falls apart, both Premier League clubs should start looking at other targets. Fast.
