Mason Mount’s Agent Pitch to AC Milan Could Reshape Amorim’s First Summer Window

AC Milan’s summer rebuild under new manager Ruben Amorim just took another turn. According to a report from Milanpress.it, Manchester United’s Mason Mount has been offered to the Rossoneri, and the former Chelsea midfielder might be open to leaving Old Trafford.

Mount, who played under Amorim during the Portuguese coach’s brief stint at Manchester United, reportedly doesn’t see himself fitting into Michael Carrick’s plans at Old Trafford. The player hasn’t publicly said anything, but the report claims his camp has floated his name to Milan, and the club has done some initial homework. A fee around €25 million has been mentioned, which feels reasonable for a 27-year-old England international with Premier League and Champions League experience.

This is interesting timing. Milan just let go of Massimiliano Allegri, Igli Tare, Geoffrey Moncada, and Giorgio Furlani in one massive purge after missing Champions League qualification. The new structure has Amorim at the top, with Hendrik Almstadt handling player trading and Bobby Gardiner running football intelligence. That’s a complete overhaul, and they’re moving fast.

Already this week, Milan broke their transfer record to sign PSG striker Goncalo Ramos — another Portugal international represented by super agent Jorge Mendes. They’re also reportedly close to agreeing personal terms with Benfica defender Antonio Silva, also a Mendes client and a Portugal international. The Portugal pipeline is wide open right now.

Mount would be a different kind of signing. He’s not Portuguese. He’s not represented by Mendes. But he knows Amorim, and that familiarity might matter. At United, Mount’s been a rotational option at best, starting maybe half the league games last season. Carrick has his own midfield pecking order, and Mount doesn’t appear to be near the top of it.

What would Mount bring to Milan? He can play as a No. 10, drift wide, or drop into a deeper midfield role. He presses well, which Amorim demands from his forwards. At Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel, he was arguably the first name on the teamsheet. The talent is there. It’s just been buried at United.

The Rossoneri haven’t confirmed anything, obviously. But the fact that information has been exchanged between clubs suggests this is more than just agent chatter. With Ramos and Silva likely coming in, adding a player like Mount would give Amorim a versatile attacking midfielder who already understands his system.

Milan’s transfer window is suddenly very loud. A few weeks ago, it felt like the club was drifting. Now they’ve got a new front office, a new coach, and a handful of serious targets. Mount might not be the flashiest name, but he could be the kind of smart addition that makes everything else work.
