Leeds United Stacking Summer Friendlies With RB Leipzig, Man United, Liverpool on the Schedule

Leeds United just dropped another piece of their summer puzzle. The club confirmed they’ll host RB Leipzig at Elland Road on Saturday, August 8, with a 2 p.m. kickoff. That’s a solid test for Daniel Farke’s squad — Leipzig finished third in the Bundesliga last season and locked down a Champions League spot. You don’t get many friendlies that carry that kind of weight.

This Leipzig match is the fourth of five friendlies Leeds have lined up. They’re starting with a U.S. tour that kicks off against Wrexham in Tampa on July 25. Then it’s Sunderland in New Jersey on July 30 and Liverpool in Chicago on August 2. That Liverpool game alone could draw a crowd considering the number of Reds fans in the states, but Leeds supporters are making the trip too.

After that they hop across the Atlantic to Dublin for an August 12 date with Manchester United at Croke Park. That’s a big stadium and a bigger rivalry. Even for a friendly, those two clubs don’t do casual.

Home friendly count still growing

Leeds have one more home friendly to announce before the Premier League season starts. They open at Nottingham Forest on August 22, and the club is expected to confirm that second Elland Road tune-up in the week leading up to that game. No word yet on the opponent, but after locking in Leipzig, they’re clearly aiming for quality.

The Leipzig fixture is the only home friendly confirmed so far. The U.S. and Dublin games are obviously neutral-site stuff. Leeds fans who don’t want to travel overseas have been waiting for more home dates, so expect that second Elland Road friendly to move tickets fast when it drops.

Why this schedule matters

Leipzig is no pushover. They’ve been one of the best-run clubs in Germany for years, and their pressing style will test Leeds early in the build-up to the season. That’s exactly what Farke wants — real challenges instead of walkthroughs against lower-league sides. Wrexham and Sunderland are respectable opponents, but Liverpool and Leipzig are a different tier. And Manchester United at Croke Park? That’s a proper atmosphere.

Leeds finished mid-table last season in the Premier League and are looking to push higher. The transfer window is still open, and more roster moves are expected. But this friendly slate gives fans a reason to pay attention through July and August. It’s not just fitness work. It’s a chance to see what this team looks like against Champions League-caliber opposition before the real games start.
