Arsenal Looks to Hijack Man United’s Summerville Deal as Summer Window Heats Up

The summer transfer window is officially open, and the big clubs are already fighting over some serious talent. Arsenal might be about to pull one over on Manchester United by snatching Crysencio Summerville away from them. The Dutch winger is expected to leave West Ham after they got relegated last season, and his strong World Cup performances — back-to-back goals against Japan and Sweden — have only made him more expensive.

According to reports out of France, the Gunners are now seriously in the mix for Summerville. United looked like the frontrunners for a while, but PSG, Tottenham, and Aston Villa are also hovering. Arsenal needs help on the left side, especially with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard’s futures uncertain. Summerville would be a huge pickup if they can pull it off.

Rogers to Arsenal? Rice Might Be the Key

Arsenal is also trying to land Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa. The England playmaker had another strong season at Villa Park, and a bunch of clubs want him. The Daily Mail says Declan Rice is working his charm on Rogers at the World Cup camp in the US, with Bukayo Saka and Eberechi Eze also there. Rice is apparently leading a full-on recruitment pitch.

Both Arsenal and Chelsea think Villa might sell for around £85 million. That’s steep, but Rogers is the kind of player who could anchor their midfield for years.

Liverpool Gets Competition for Diomande

Liverpool’s pursuit of RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande just got complicated. The Reds already had an €80 million bid rejected (plus €20 million in add-ons, according to Ben Jacobs at GiveMeSport). Now PSG has entered the race. BILD in Germany reports that the Paris club has been talking to Diomande’s camp for weeks and is ready to make its own offer.

PSG just won the Champions League and has money to burn. That combination could be hard for Liverpool to beat, especially for a 19-year-old who’s been lighting it up at the World Cup with Ivory Coast.

Tottenham’s Tonali Bid and Bergvall’s Exit

Tottenham is about to make a second offer for Sandro Tonali after Newcastle rejected their first £80 million bid. GiveMeSport says Spurs are willing to go up to £85 million, but Newcastle wants that up front plus another £15 million in add-ons. Tonali is apparently open to joining Spurs even though they don’t have European football next season.

While they try to bring Tonali in, Lucas Bergvall wants out. Standard Sport’s Matt Verri reports the Swedish midfielder has formally requested a transfer after getting frustrated with playing time at his preferred No. 8 role. Bergvall won’t consider a loan — he wants a permanent move. Tottenham set his asking price at £45 million.

Chelsea’s Wharton Plan and Enzo’s Exit

Enzo Fernandez looks headed to Real Madrid, and Chelsea wants Adam Wharton as his replacement. The Blues are also close to settling a compensation deal with Manchester City for manager Enzo Maresca, which would end that drama quickly.

West Ham is trying to rebuild after relegation. They’re looking at former Brighton defender Adam Webster, who’s a free agent after seven years with the Seagulls. He could fill a gap if Jean-Clair Todibo and Konstantinos Mavropanos leave, which seems likely.

Leeds is reportedly offering £20 million for Southampton midfielder Shea Charles. The 22-year-old made 31 appearances this season and scored an extra-time winner in the playoff semifinals, though his team got disqualified from the final over a cheating scandal. Leeds boss Daniel Farke wants to build off a 14th-place Premier League finish.
