Oklahoma City is reportedly looking to make a splash in next week’s NBA Draft, and the team’s ambition to climb into the top ten could come at the expense of one of its most reliable role players. According to ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel, the Brooklyn Nets have expressed interest in Thunder guard Aaron Wiggins, setting the stage for a potential blockbuster trade involving the sixth overall pick.
The Thunder currently hold the No. 12 and No. 17 picks in the 2026 draft, but general manager Sam Presti is known for his aggressive roster maneuvering. Moving up to No. 6 would allow Oklahoma City to target a specific prospect they covet, and sources indicate that Wiggins—along with those picks—could be the price of admission.
“We have learned that the Nets have interest in Thunder wing Aaron Wiggins,” Siegel reported. “The Thunder own the 12th and 17th picks and are trying to move into the top 10. The Nets own the 6th pick.”

What Wiggins Brings to the Table
Wiggins, who averaged 9.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists during the 2025-26 season, isn’t a star—but he’s exactly the kind of glue piece championship teams covet. His shooting splits of 43.1 percent from the field, 35.6 percent from three, and 73.6 percent from the line make him a solid two-way contributor who can slot into any rotation. For the Nets, who are in the early stages of a rebuild, adding a proven 25-year-old wing with playoff experience would provide veteran stability without compromising their long-term flexibility.
Other Routes Up the Board
Brooklyn isn’t Oklahoma City’s only option. The Sacramento Kings, holding the No. 7 pick, represent another potential trade partner. While conventional wisdom suggests the Thunder will target a big man—especially after their Game 7 loss to Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs in the Western Conference Finals—Siegel notes that a guard could still be the priority.
“Along with this being a trade-up opportunity for a guard like Flemings, should he fall to the Mavs, this is also a spot in the draft that a team like the Thunder could jump the Warriors to grab Mara, assuming he isn’t taken by Atlanta the pick before,” Siegel wrote. “If Ament is on the board, he will certainly be in play for trade-up scenarios as well.”
Complicating matters: the Kings themselves could be willing to move down if their preferred targets are gone. With the Clippers and Nets picking ahead of them, Sacramento is reportedly eyeing a trade-down scenario involving Flemings—which could open the door for Oklahoma City to strike a deal at No. 7 instead.
Draft Night Drama Awaits
With the draft scheduled for next Tuesday, the Thunder find themselves in an enviable but delicate position. They have the assets to move up, but parting with a trusted rotation piece like Wiggins carries risk. Whether Presti pulls the trigger on a deal with Brooklyn, Sacramento, or another team entirely, one thing is clear: Oklahoma City is not content to sit still. The franchise that stunned the league by winning a title in 2025 is looking to reload, not retool.
