Tyler Kolek Showed Up at ‘The Odyssey’ Premiere Looking Like Loki and the Internet Noticed

New York Knicks guard Tyler Kolek walked the red carpet at the New York City premiere of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey this week, and within minutes, social media had already cast him in a different role entirely. Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, specifically.

Kolek wore a brown blazer, a matching tie, and had his hair long and swept back. The resemblance was immediate and unavoidable. One fan posted, So Tyler Kolek is intentionally cosplaying Loki, right? and the internet ran with it. Fair point. The MCU character wears almost that exact same look in the Loki series. Same earthy tones. Same vaguely villainous but charming energy.

It’s not every day a backup point guard for the reigning NBA champions ends up at a Hollywood premiere next to Anne Hathaway and whoever else Nolan packed into the theater. The Knicks just won the Finals against the San Antonio Spurs in five games, so maybe the whole team got invites. Or maybe it was Hathaway herself — she’s a known Knicks fan, and she famously roped Karl-Anthony Towns into a cameo in The Devil Wears Prada 2.

Either way, Kolek looked sharp. And he made sure to document the night. He posted a photo of Nolan on his Instagram Stories before the screening started, and from the looks of it, his seat wasn’t exactly in the nosebleeds.

Kolek is entering his third NBA season. Drafted in the second round of the 2024 draft out of Marquette by the Portland Trail Blazers, he was traded to the Knicks for Dani Díez’s draft rights and some picks. He’s bounced to the Westchester Knicks in the G League a few times, but he carved out a real role this past season. In 62 games — 21 more than his rookie year — he averaged 4.4 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in under 12 minutes a night.

He also got a ring. Not a bad accessory to go with that brown blazer.
