The Miami Heat’s internal dynamics have long been a subject of speculation, but this week things got physical. Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro, now a Milwaukee Buck, reportedly got into a fight at a Las Vegas hotel. It’s the kind of story that makes you wonder how deep the old grudges really go.
According to Barry Jackson at The Miami Herald, the tension isn’t just about one Instagram post. Some former Heat players reportedly carry “some level of resentment” toward Adebayo, who has been treated as the franchise’s “chosen one.” He got a massive three-year, $160 million extension in 2024. He never appears in trade rumors. Meanwhile, Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro both got shipped out before ever getting that kind of commitment.
One social media user pointed that out to Jackson, naming Herro and Butler as the obvious examples. Jackson replied: “Indeed, people can figure it out.”
What sparked the fight
The altercation reportedly started over Herro’s finsta account, @wonderdidit. That account posted a graphic showing the NBA’s lowest-percentage mid-range shooters, and both Adebayo and Giannis Antetokounmpo were on it. But the real drama came from Herro’s DMs, where he didn’t name Adebayo but made comments that were easy to connect.
“Why are Heat fans so worried about me and what I do? But I’m not the best player on the team, right?” Herro wrote to someone.
He followed up with: “I didn’t say any names. I’m just saying, should an elite defender be making 60 million a year? Answer that.”
That kind of thing doesn’t stay private for long.
Earlier that same day, before the fight story broke, Herro told media at Summer League that “It’s all love in Miami.” He said he’d seen some of the coaching staff, including Chris Quinn and Erik Spoelstra, and that both sides got a fresh start that worked out.
Obviously that comment aged poorly.
As of now, nobody from either team or the NBA has announced any disciplinary action. It’s unclear if the league will step in or if the Heat and Bucks will handle it internally. What is clear is that the resentment Jackson reported didn’t just stay in the locker room — it followed both guys to Vegas.
