Manchester United Circles Wolves Teenager as Aston Villa Hunts Replacements After Onana Injury

Manchester United is taking a hard look at Wolves youngster Mateus Mane, according to the Express And Star. The 18-year-old midfielder is exactly the kind of developmental piece a club like United tends to monitor closely. Liverpool has also been keeping tabs, so there’s already some competition brewing.

Mane is viewed internally at Wolves as a potential key piece in their push to climb back into the Premier League. That says something about the kid’s ceiling. At 18, he’s not supposed to be the guy carrying a club’s top-flight ambitions, but here we are.

United hasn’t stopped there either. They’ve also been linked with goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, who knows the club well from his earlier stint there. Johnstone is expected to leave Wolves this summer, and a return to Old Trafford has been floated for a while now. Nothing is done yet, but the interest has stayed consistent.

Aston Villa needs midfield help fast

Over in Birmingham, Unai Emery’s Aston Villa is dealing with a tough blow. Amadou Onana went down with a serious knee injury, and that changes things. Villa was already looking at midfield reinforcements, but now the need is more urgent.

One name that keeps surfacing is Parma’s Mandela Keita. Everton and Leeds are also in the mix for the midfielder, but Villa might have extra incentive to move quickly. Keita has been solid in Italy and fits the profile of a physical, ball-winning presence Villa could use right now.

Randal Kolo Muani still drawing interest

And Villa isn’t just shopping for midfielders. They’ve been mentioned alongside Randal Kolo Muani as well. The French forward spent last season on loan at Spurs, didn’t exactly light things up but showed flashes, and is now back at PSG. Juventus is also reportedly interested, so Villa would have to move fast if they want him.

None of this is official yet. No medicals booked, no paperwork filed. But the rumor mill is turning, and with Onana’s injury timeline still unclear, Villa’s shopping list just got longer. United is playing the long game with Mane and Johnstone. Both clubs are working the market, just at different speeds and with different stakes.
