Adam Sandler Officiated Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s MSG Wedding. Here’s What We Know.

Apparently the hottest wedding ticket in New York City this past weekend wasn’t a downtown art gallery thing or a Hamptons weekend. It was inside Madison Square Garden, of all places, and the couple was Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter, of all people, dropped a post on X (formerly Twitter) with details that Schefter said came courtesy of the Kelce brothers themselves. The most surprising part? Comedian Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony. Not a minister, not a family friend. Adam Sandler, the guy from “Happy Gilmore.”

Jason Kelce served as best man, which makes sense if you’ve watched any of the Kelce brothers’ podcast or heard them talk about each other. Travis’s brother was there in a tux, presumably not wearing his Chiefs game jersey for once. On Swift’s side, she had a Man of Honor — her brother, Austin Swift.

The guest list must have taken an entire spreadsheet to organize

It wasn’t a small thing. The wedding basically took over MSG for a Friday night during what was the hottest weekend of the year in New York. The guest list reads like a who’s-who of entertainment and sports. Chris Rock, Hugh Grant, Lena Dunham, and Gigi Hadid were spotted. Hadid had been seen with Swift around New York in the days before, so the rumors were already floating.

Sports figures packed the place too. Travis’s coach Andy Reid was there, along with Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt. Retired NFL star Tom Brady showed up, which probably made the room feel even more surreal. Seattle Seahawks receiver Cooper Kupp, fresh off a Super Bowl win with the Rams a couple years back, was there. So was Giants receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster. ESPN’s Joe Buck and Stephen A. Smith also made the cut.

Social media lost its mind, obviously

People were talking about this wedding all weekend. It even got mentioned during CNN’s Fourth of July special with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen. You don’t get name-dropped on CNN unless your wedding is basically a state dinner.

The security situation in New York was reportedly intense. Taking over MSG for a private event means shutting down a lot of the city’s busiest blocks and coordinating with NYPD. But when you’re Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, you probably have a team for that.

Kelce and Swift have been dating for years now, and there was a lot of buzz leading up to this weekend. Kelce is still the Chiefs’ star tight end, a Super Bowl champion, and he’s not going anywhere soon. The wedding doesn’t change his NFL schedule, but it does mean training camp might start with a slightly different energy in the locker room. Or maybe not. Hard to say.

Either way, Adam Sandler officiated. That’s the detail nobody expected, and honestly it’s the one people are still talking about.
