Manchester United Locks Up Teen Midfielder Anderson Through 2028 After Senior Breakthrough

A promising young midfielder at Manchester United is officially off the market. The club announced Wednesday that 18-year-old Anderson has signed her first professional contract, keeping her at Old Trafford through the summer of 2028 with a club option for an additional year.

Anderson broke into the senior team last season after captaining the Under-21 side. She made two appearances for the Red Devils, both as a substitute. But the club clearly sees a bigger role ahead, and they moved quickly to lock her down on a full-time professional deal.

“Signing my first professional contract with Manchester United is a huge honor,” Anderson said in a club statement. “It has been an incredible journey so far, and I could not be more grateful to my family and all of the coaches in the Academy for supporting me throughout my development.”

She added: “Today is an important milestone, but I’m determined to keep pushing myself and continue to learn in our special environment.”

Academy Pipeline Keeps Producing

Anderson joins a growing list of academy graduates who have turned professional at United in recent months. Layla Drury and Scarlett Hill both signed their first pro terms earlier this year, and the club continues to invest in its youth setup.

Manchester United Women have made a habit of promoting from within, and Anderson is the latest example. She’s a central midfielder with good range and composure on the ball, according to youth team scouting reports. The club hasn’t confirmed a loan move for next season, and it’s possible she’ll get more first-team minutes as United juggle league and cup fixtures.

The deal is structured with a one-year club option beyond 2028, which gives United protection if Anderson continues to develop at the current rate. For an 18-year-old who went from U-21 captain to senior squad player in one season, the trajectory looks promising.

Anderson didn’t specify whether she’d push for a more regular starting role or welcome a loan to get consistent game time. But the contract itself sends a clear message: United sees her as part of the long-term plan.
