Taylor Swift is making the rounds in New York City this week, and Wednesday she parked herself at Gigi Hadid’s place for about five hours. TMZ got video of Swift’s SUV pulling up to the supermodel’s condo, and the two friends apparently had a lot to catch up on. Hadid has been a close friend for years, and the assumption is she’ll have a role in whatever wedding plans Swift and Travis Kelce have cooking.
Speaking of Kelce, he was also spotted in the city Wednesday doing what a lot of guys do in a heat wave: going for a run. The Chiefs tight end wore a white T-shirt, dark shorts, silver-and-black sneakers, and a white cap. It was pushing 100 degrees in New York, and his shirt had a noticeable sweat stain on the back. Not exactly his usual Arrowhead Stadium look, but then again, he’s not on the clock right now.
The Rumored Wedding Weekend
Here’s where it gets interesting. Multiple reports are pointing to a July 3 wedding at Madison Square Garden. A permit was filed last week for street closures around MSG from July 2 through about noon on July 4, according to three anonymous sources who spoke to The New York Times. The permit asks for capacity between 500 and 999 people, plus tents set up outside the venue.
An unnamed city official told the outlet something pretty direct: “Madison Square Garden is planning to host the wedding festivities on July 3.” No hedging, no maybe. Just a flat statement.
There has been a lot of movement around the arena over the last couple of days. Deliveries of set pieces, food, and lights have been rolling in. And Page Six reported there will be a rehearsal dinner at the Infosys Theater inside MSG on Thursday, July 2. So if you were hoping for a low-key affair, that ship has sailed.
Kelce’s teammates have also booked hotel rooms at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square for dates around July 3. That’s not exactly a secret either. When the guys start booking rooms, the wedding is basically a done deal.
Nobody from Swift or Kelce’s camp has confirmed anything officially, but the paper trail and the sightings make a pretty strong circumstantial case. Swift and Kelce have been linked since last year, and the speculation about a wedding has been constant ever since. A July 3 date at MSG would be a massive event, as you might expect from two of the biggest names in their respective fields.
For now, it looks like the countdown is on. If the reports hold, we could be looking at the wedding of the year in about 48 hours.
