West Ham Got £85M for Fernandes. United Could Still Take Two More Stars.

Manchester United missed out on Mateus Fernandes. Tottenham swooped in late and got the Portugal midfielder. West Ham fans loved it. They spent the week gloating about how United got fleeced.

But INEOS might not be done with East London.

Two more West Ham players are reportedly on United’s radar right now. And given the Hammers just got relegated, holding onto anyone is going to be a problem.

Summerville Could Be the First to Go

Crysencio Summerville is a natural left winger. United don’t have one of those. Not a specialist, anyway. The Dutchman turned heads at the World Cup and he’s only 24. West Ham would love to keep him, but he’s not going to want to play in the Championship next season. That’s just reality.

Chelsea is also sniffing around. So United has competition. But the Red Devils have a clear need and the financial flexibility to act.

Bowen Would Hurt Worse

Jarrod Bowen is the captain. He was basically West Ham’s only bright spot in a miserable season — 11 goals and 12 assists across all competitions. The guy can play both wings and even as a striker. That versatility is exactly what Michael Carrick needs as United preps for four competitions next year.

According to The Guardian, a bunch of clubs are monitoring Bowen: United, Chelsea, Aston Villa, Everton, Liverpool. Daniel Kretinsky, who’s about to become West Ham’s majority owner, is desperate to keep him. But when you’re in the Championship and offers start coming in for your best players, desperation only goes so far.

United wants to add firepower behind Benjamin Sesko. Bowen can play up top or out wide. He’s English, he’s proven in the Premier League, and at 29 he’s in his prime. That kind of signing doesn’t come around often for a relegated club trying to rebuild.

The Fernandes sale brought in £85 million. That’s the highest fee ever for a Championship club. It helps West Ham’s finances, sure. But it doesn’t make losing your captain any easier.

United hasn’t confirmed anything publicly. Nobody has. But the reports are consistent, and the logic is pretty simple: West Ham is in the second tier now. Their best players are going to get picked off. INEOS might just be getting started.
