Dianna Russini Told a Cop Kevin O’Connell’s Quarterback ‘Sucks.’ The Bodycam Is Out.

The bodycam footage is public now, and it turns out Dianna Russini did not lie about everything. She just got some of the details really wrong.

Here is what actually happened. Russini got pulled over in Ridgewood, New Jersey for using her phone while driving. The cop walked up. She told him she was an NFL insider reporting on Sean McDermott getting fired by the Bills. The cop asked if she had a Chiefs tattoo or something. She laughed. She asked if he was a Giants or Jets fan. He said Vikings.

That is where it got interesting.

Russini pulled out her phone and showed him a text exchange she had with Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell. The cop called it “pretty cool.” Then Russini said it. “Their quarterback sucks, though.”

This is where her story from a podcast interview with Stugotz and Company did not match reality. She claimed she FaceTimed O’Connell to get out of the ticket. The bodycam shows she just showed the texts. No FaceTime. A small exaggeration that blew up into a whole thing online.

But the cop still let her off with a warning. He told her he understood her job required a lot of phone use and just asked her to wait until she got home next time. The Ridgewood Police Department released a statement confirming the stop happened on January 19, 2026 at 9:40 a.m. on Godwin Avenue. They said the officer used his professional discretion based on her driving history and department protocol. No ticket.

The quarterback comment is the part that stings if you are J.J. McCarthy. He struggled in his second year, which was really his first after missing all of 2024 with a torn meniscus. He played 10 games in 2025 and threw 11 touchdowns against 12 interceptions with a 57.6% completion rate. Not great. But getting dunked on by an insider trying to bond with a traffic cop has to be a new low for locker room morale.

Russini has since been quiet about the whole thing. The bodycam does not lie, though. She named dropped O’Connell, took a shot at the guy under center, and drove away without a fine. The internet did what the internet does. Memes. Screen grabs. Jokes about McCarthy becoming an accidental punchline in a traffic stop story nobody saw coming.

The Vikings have not commented on it. They probably will not.
