A 49ers Fan Tried to Recruit Maxx Crosby. His Response Was Perfect.

A young 49ers fan saw her shot and took it. At a brand event, she walked up to Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby and asked the question the entire Bay Area is wondering.

“Will you please join the 49ers?”

Crosby didn’t hesitate. “I can’t. I can’t,” he said, smiling. Then he added, “I still appreciate you doing your homework though. You’ll never know. You’re the best.”

The video, posted by Vegas Sports Today, shows the moment perfectly. The kid put in the effort. She even mentioned making a post about him weeks earlier. Crosby gave her a soft no but kept it warm. He’s intimidating on the field but clearly different off it.

Still, the question itself has legs. The Raiders recently tried to move Crosby in a deal that fell apart. In March, Las Vegas shipped the two-time All-Pro to the Baltimore Ravens for two first-round picks. But Crosby, still recovering from knee surgery, failed his physical. The trade died.

Since then, the rumors haven’t stopped.

Sports Illustrated’s Hondo Carpenter reported there is still heavy interest around the league. “There is enormous interest,” Carpenter said. He added that it doesn’t mean a trade is coming soon or that Crosby is demanding one. It just means the phone keeps ringing.

Crosby is a five-time Pro Bowler and has turned into the face of the Raiders franchise since being picked in the fourth round in 2019. He plays with a kind of reckless edge on Sundays, but in person, he’s the guy who stops to talk to a kid with a custom pitch.

For now, he’s trying to get healthy and be ready for the Raiders this season. The 49ers would absolutely take him. Who wouldn’t? But Crosby isn’t asking out, and the Raiders aren’t shopping him — at least not publicly.

So sorry, kid. Nice try though. Go do your homework on someone else.
