Two Man United Right Backs Have No Plans to Leave This Summer. Here’s the Latest.

Manchester United’s summer transfer window is shaping up to be one of those chaotic, multi-front operations where you need a scorecard just to keep track of who’s coming and who’s staying. The club has already locked in a deal for Atalanta midfielder Ederson, and they’re still chasing midfield reinforcements like West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes and Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni. But amid all that noise, there’s been chatter from overseas that United might also be shopping for a right-sided full-back.

That speculation? Not coming from the players themselves.

According to Samuel Luckhurst of The Sun, both Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui are perfectly content staying at Old Trafford. Neither is looking for a move, and neither has asked to leave. This isn’t just agent spin either. Luckhurst reports that sources close to the two defenders insist they’re not on the lookout for a transfer this summer.

Mazraoui, in particular, seems settled. He’s been getting regular minutes for Morocco during the ongoing World Cup in North America — mostly at left-back, with captain Achraf Hakimi locking down the right side. That kind of versatility only helps his case at United, where coverage at both full-back spots has been an issue.

Dalot’s situation is a little more complicated. He’s been sidelined so far in Morocco’s games against DR Congo and Uzbekistan, with Portugal manager Roberto Martinez leaning on former Manchester City man Joao Cancelo instead. But that doesn’t mean Dalot is itching for a move. The club views him as part of the plan.

United’s shopping list is long. A left-back, a left-winger, a backup goalkeeper, and potentially a striker if Joshua Zirkzee heads back to Italy — these are all on the board. Zirkzee struggled for minutes this season under both Ruben Amorim and successor Michael Carrick, making a return to Serie A a real possibility. But at right-back, the feeling internally is that the club is covered.

That doesn’t mean the rumors from abroad will stop, especially with a busy window ahead. United have a World Cup to finish first, and then it’s full speed into the market. For now, though, Dalot and Mazraoui are staying put. And neither one is forcing the issue.
